What kind of maintenance is
needed on my fire extinguisher?
As with all life-saving devices, a fire
extinguisher should be properly maintained. National Fire Code requires the
following for most types of extinguishers: annual inspection, refill and
service every 6 years, refill and hydro test every 12 years.
Why do I need to service my fire
equipment?
It is required to properly maintain the fire
equipment per NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) As a customer you want
your fire equipment in good condition so that when it is called upon it will
work.
Hydro testing and CO2 tanks
Do you refill CO2 tanks?
Yes, we refill CO2 fire extinguishers and cylinders at our Tucson location.
Pickup and delivery is available. CO2 cylinders are commonly used to carbonate
or push beverages. Co2 fire extinguishers only carry a UL listing for B
(flammable liquids) or C (energized electrical) fires.
What is a hydro test?
A hydrostatic (or hydro) test includes a
detailed visual inspection of the interior and exterior of your cylinder. The
cylinder is also water-pressure tested to 5/3 of the rated pressure - thus
ensuring its integrity.
How long does a hydro test take?
Due to the nature of the hydro test, it
generally takes 3-5 business days. Next-day service is available at an
additional charge.
